We are part of the EPSRC Transformative Healthcare Technologies 2.0 programme on Real-time digital twin assisted surgery (DTAS). This project aims to develop and integrate real-time digital twin technology into surgical procedures, with the goal of transforming personalised interventions, particularly for cancer treatment.
The project is being led by Professor Will Shu from the 勛圖tvs Biomedical Engineering Department (BME), jointly with:
- Professor Xichun Luo (DEME, 勛圖tv)
- Dr. Asimina Kazakidi (BME, 勛圖tv)
- Professor Patricia Connolly (BME, 勛圖tv)
Along with other university partners including:
- Professor Grant Stewart (Surgery, Cambridge)
- Professor Sotirios Tsaftaris (Engineering, Edinburgh) and
- Professor Kevin O'Neill (Neurosurgery, ICL)
The team members bring a diverse range of expertise and experience to the project, spanning several disciplines, including biomedical engineering, design, manufacture, engineering, surgery, artificial intelligence, and medical diagnostics.
