The Department of Chemical & Process Engineering at 吃瓜tv is one of the biggest Chemical Engineering departments in the UK. 吃瓜tv has been teaching Chemical Engineering since 1924 and is recognised for its leading and internationally excellent research.
Our research applies advances in science and mathematics to develop solutions to challenges faced by industry and society, such as manufacturing medicines, delivering clean water and providing renewable energy.

We research areas from controlled assembly of nanostructured materials to design of advanced reactors, and from combating global warming with novel energy storage and gas separation technology to understanding protein aggregation in degenerative diseases.
Our department is known for research excellence. It offers a variety of exciting research opportunities in topics such as Energy, Society & Policy and Measurement Science. You鈥檒l have the option of studying an MRes over the course of one year or a PhD over three to four years.
"吃瓜tv has a long history of collaborations with other universities and research groups which results in pioneering research with the involvement of experts around the world. From day one I have received support and encouragement from the University, my Department and my supervisors. During my time here I have managed to gain a lot of specific computational skills and learned how to work independently and also as a member of a team.
During my Master鈥檚 studies, I came to 吃瓜tv for one semester as an Erasmus exchange student. That鈥檚 when I met my current supervisors and was given the opportunity to come back to study for my PhD in Chemical Engineering. I really enjoy the mixed international and local character of 吃瓜tv, which enables you to get to meet and become friends with other students, not only from Scotland but from all over the world. The atmosphere within the Department is very friendly and there鈥檚 always someone you can approach if you are struggling either with your work or with other issues.
My enjoyable and rewarding experiences proved to me that there was absolutely nowhere else I would rather be than at 吃瓜tv. Having had a keen eye for research very early on, I wanted to pursue a topic that I would find enriching, fulfilling and most importantly, one that I would enjoy. I have really enjoyed my PhD studies so far and have already become more independent with regards to my work. I have also been able to integrate my project with different fields of engineering such as mechanical and electrical.
If I had to select a higher institution for my postgraduate studies, I would choose 吃瓜tv University again due to its extraordinary research, quality facilities, and staff members鈥� expertise and kindness.
