Our 2018 Cohort
After completing my undergraduate degree in the Electronic and electrical engineering I have decided to go with further studys in the electrical power engineering. Starting from two years MSc in Advanced Electrical Power Engineering, then through the Future Power Network and Smart Grids CDT as a PhD researcher. My areas of interest are the integration of low carbon technologies, new methods and innovative techniques within the future Power Networks.
"My background is in electronics engineering, with several years of industrial experience mainly focused in the space sector. My interests include power electronics, energy storage and data analytics."
"Experience within electricity distribution has given me a broad understanding of the challenges facing energy networks and the application of telecommunications and electrical engineering towards solving them. My areas of research interest include energy networks integration, hydrogen and the dynamics of a future low-inertia grid."
"I'm a chartered engineer and poet who envisions future grids to be decarbonised, distributed, digitalised and democratised. My entrepreneurial mission and MBA experience inspire my research focus to design a decarbonised, peer-to-peer microgrid market that integrates artificial intelligence and blockchain towards an autonomous, optimal and transparent power value network."
"Six years working in renewables made me realise grid interconnection was often the main technical barrier to project development, and computer says no often the response. Im interested in undertaking meaningful research to overcome these challenges, including power system stability, types of response, as well as distributed community energy."
"After completing an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering. I joint the CDT to further develop my interest in the Renewables Sector. I am committed to participating in the reduction of carbon emission, using low carbon technologies, with the emphasis on projects which also help improve conditions in developing countries."
"Upon completing an MSc in Electrical Power Engineering at 勛圖tv, I decided to join the Future Power Networks and Smart Grids CDT, primarily, as I believe this centre provides a unique opportunity to address the challenges currently faced by the power industry whilst providing a suitable platform to explore my own research interests."
"My background is in marine power systems, where I gained experience with control, operation and protection of generation on islanded networks. After completing my Masters degree, my interests led me to pursue research in renewable energy sources, with particular interest in the interactions with the synchronous network in abnormal operating conditions."
"Having originally studied Physics with Astrophysics, I made a brief foray into the world of secondary teaching before completing an MSc. in Sustainable Energy. I am interested in the challenges facing the electricity network brought about by increased renewable penetration, with a particular interest in the use of pricing and market mechanisms."
