Animal Studies has emerged in the last 20 years as an exciting new area of interdisciplinary research and focusses on human-animal relations in different media, cultures and time periods. Professor Erica Fudge has been a key figure in the development of this field, which engages scholars across the arts, humanities, social sciences and natural sciences, as well as NGOs and artists.
³Ô¹Ïtv is a hub for the development of the field. We are home to the internationally renowned , and host the which brings postgrads and scholars from ³Ô¹Ïtv, Glasgow and Glasgow Caledonian Universities together once a month to discuss key texts in the field.
MRes and PhD Study: Erica Fudge works with colleagues in English to supervise PhDs in the field, and with Dr Elsa Richardson in History. We are particularly interested in supervising topics looking at human-animal relations / the representation of animals in early modern culture, Victorian and modern culture in particular.
