Personal statement

I am a Chancellor's Fellow in Mathematical Modelling at the 吃瓜tv. My work focuses on using mathematical modelling to answer questions involving the interaction of fluid flows and solid structures at the microscale. I have been awarded the APS's Fran莽ois Frenkiel Award for Fluid Mechanics and the IMA's Lighthill-Thwaites Prize for my research.

My research interests include:

Poro-elasticity, hydrogel dynamics and swelling
Biomechanics of tissues and biofilms
Surface tension, elasticity and elasto-capillarity
Artificial microswimmers, micro-components and microfluidics
Fluid dynamics, particularly viscous flows and lubrication theory
Mathematical modelling, mechanics and asymptotic methods
