Personal statement

Dr Fiona Muirhead is a Senior Lecturer, Principal and Co- Investigator on multiple interdisciplinary research projects spanning disability health, digital wellbeing, and inclusive heritage. She is co-applicant on the STRIDE initiative, submitted to the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2025, which explores how Scottish libraries can foster community support, trusted information, inclusive spaces, heritage discovery, and wellbeing.

She is also leading a funded project on 24-hour movement behaviours in youth with Learning Disabilities, which is the first UK-based study to examine adherence to integrated physical activity, sedentary behaviour, and sleep guidelines in this population. This work contributes vital data to an under-researched area.

Fiona also supervises PhD projects in the areas of disability health, digital wellbeing andÌýchronic pain and PA and health in vulnerable populations.
